How do companies develop executives?

Competencies of a Modern Manager

Anyone who has the desire and has passed a competitive selection process can become an executive. There is no compulsory training, which doctors or airline pilots, for example, have, so not all managers have the necessary knowledge.
What is happening to executives today? Why don’t they know how to lead?

  • The average age is low. Today you can become a manager at the age of 20 or younger.
  • Yesterday an expert is today an executive. As an expert he may have 10 years of experience, but as a manager he just starts.
  • There are no assessment or diagnostic tools, so many managers don’t know what they don’t know.
  • There are no management standards available as such. The exception, the MBA program. The cost of it is high, so not every executive has access to it.
  • There is no certification (except PM/Agile).

We will consider the competence – manager, which in the world is commonly referred to as PeopleManagement.
What is People Management?

  • Managing staff development, performance and efficiency in order to optimize the use of talent.
  • Unlocking and realizing the potential of employees as the key to the company’s success.
  • Development planning, coordination, coaching and close attention to performance issues and conflicts on both individual and organizational levels.
